Dear Friend and member of the ayia napa tourism committee. The second summer period is near the end and preparations for winter tourism are on their way. I would also like to inform you regarding some proposals I have put forward to the municipality

a.       There will be a press conference with wide media coverage in order to start the winter period

b.      A booklet will be published which will be given to all the guest during the check in. the booklet will be a directory with opening hours and info of restaurants, shops and hotels, and a quick note on things to do

c.       We will prepare a journalists weekend. Journalists will be invited to spend a weekend in ayia napa, we will show them that ayia napa is open during winter and that there are things to do

d.      Traditional market starts every Saturday to the seferis square

e.       Cultural winter – every thurday to the municipality with theater, concerts etc.

2)      Winter Tourism: Foreigners .

In addition to the booklet and other measures mentioned above. The most important decision is that  . The museum will be turned into a winter tourism meeting place. We will have free internet, lectures etc. the final list will be

available probably this Monday. This is for ALL the tourists of ALL nationalities.

3)      Other proposals: I have the following proposale due to discussion and voting in the next meetings of the Ayia Napa Municipal Council

a.      Ayia Napa Walk of Fame Avenue – or Square

                                                              i.      Is time to start taking advantage of the famous persons (singers, athletes, politicians etc) who visit ayia napa. The proposal suggests that Makariou avenue or the square to be turned to something silimar to Hollywood boulevard. Where every famous person who visits ayia napa will leave its mark, with details regarding its visit, date, and handmark on the sidewalk, he/she also be awarded an honorary  award with the same details. All under photographers etc.

                                                            ii.      To all contracts of the popular artists that the municipality is signing to include a term that the artist has to visit 2 sights of ayia napa where photos and videos will be taken.

b.      Proposal for a monthly or quarterly newspaper and an annual report

                                                              i.      The proposal suggests that the  municipality should print a newspaper with news and usefull information and announcements. Our communication with citizens of ayia napa is a bit problematic and that would improve it. Citizens should know which persons, and politicians the mayor and coucillors visited, what demand and problems we forwarded to them, announcements of future projects and updates on their status. Also  information and about the work of the committees of the council. Published the importants decisions taken by the board and their minutes for better information (e.g kataklysmos location, ayias Mavris rescructuring etc). and other important news and usefull info to the ayia napa

c) Annual Report:  the annual report will be a report similar to the one major public cmpanies have. Publishing info such asfinancial analysis of the municipality –loans,, overdrafts, cash flow

1)       list of restaurants the municipality used to cater for guest

2)      List of names who did not paid their fees for services permits (subnets, tables etc)

3)      Republic of Cyprus General accountants Report for the municipality

4)      List of discounts to permits which the council approves

5)      Outlook and feeback of last and future by the mayor

6)      Personell issues

7)      Analysis of council members trips with expenses, number of persons etc.

8)      The list is long….

The goal is that the annual report will be a booklet where every person living in ayia Napa should receive by the beginning of February.  Then In March, a wide meeting of the ayia napa citizens should take place where the mayor and councilors will provide answers.

  PlaygroundsAyia napa want to improve its image as a family destination, however the public playgrunds are limited. The proposal suggests the creation of playgrounds in the squares and other places in ayia napa.

Skateboard TrackThe creation of a skateboard track . many yound persons use their skateboards in the squares, why not create something lanaka did in phinikoudes, to target those young persons

Ayia Napa Cyprus Youth FestivalThe proposal suggests the creation of a 2 day ayia napa youth festival with the cooperation of the Cyprus youth organization, the festival will be 2 day, with rock music, youth organisations participation and many many more.The goal is to establish this as an annual event.
